Have delicious ribs in half the time in the IP with this easy recipe for Beef Short Ribs!
Ingredients
  • 4 large meaty short ribs
  • 1 cup broth (in a pinch water works fine)
  • 1 cup clean bbq sauce of choice
  • ¼ tsp sea salt (plus more for initial salting)
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp onion powder
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp turmeric
  • ¼ tsp chili powder
  • ¼ tsp allspice
  • ¼ tsp paprika
Instructions
  1. Turn Instant Pot onto "Saute" function
  2. Liberally salt all sides of the ribs
  3. In a small bowl, mix together all spices to use as the spice rub
  4. Rub the meat with the spices on all sides
  5. When the IP says "Hot" put the ribs in to sear on all sides, starting with the fattiest side
  6. When seared, turn off the IP
  7. Pour in broth
  8. Drizzle BBQ sauce over all the ribs
  9. Turn IP onto "meat/stew" function and adjust to 35 minutes
  10. Allow to naturally release (about 15 minutes usually)
  11. In the meantime, begin to cook you side dishes, we like a simple steamed veggie and rice or potatoes!
  12. When pressure has released, turn IP back to "saute" and allow the liquid to reduce into a gravy/sauce, stirring occasionaly and scraping the bottom.
  13. Bear in mind, it will be pretty oily... we remove quite a bit of the fat with a spoon and save to cook with later.
  14. If you prefer you can use the fat from the gravy to brown the ribs in a frying pan or remove the gravy and use the IP to saute again.
  15. Alternatively you can broil them in the oven for a few minutes!
  16. Serve with your favorite side dishes and drizzle the gravy over it all for some extra yum!
