Disclaimer: First things first-like pretty much any other free blog on the web, we have commissioned links on our site and posts. We also are long time fans of Joel Marion, and are excited to partner with him to share this book with you! In general, a commissioned link means if you click something and make a purchase, we might be able to buy a coffee when the company kicks back a small bit of the normal price you pay anyway!

We love coffee and our partners - thank you for your continued support! Click here for more on all of that jazz:

Okay, three weeks in and I am loving this program! Considering I’d also recently began a daily Zoom call morning workout with friends, I’m extra pumped to get back to my best self. I’m seeing that pairing the eating plan from Always Eat after 7:00 p.m. with a more regimented and intensive exercise program has helped me feel so energetic every day! I am also finally in the habit of waking up earlier again, which is easier and easier every day. The first few days were rough though! I’m also feeling satisfied after each meal, rather than always hungry like I was in the previous plan I followed, however, I am now eating less calories, and only slightly different foods… Super interesting!

Another perk of my first bit on this plan - I love how it seems that I’m able to sleep better and well-rested every morning too. An excerpt from the book highlights some of the research cited in it, where Joel writes “A research paper published in Sports Medicine in 2014 showed that people who eat the majority of their carbs at dinner actually sleep better. Carb-induced, quality sleep decreases cortisol (a fat-storing hormone) and ramps up the production of your sleep hormones, serotonin and melatonin. Restorative sleep increases fat-burning hormones—the main one being growth hormone—overnight.” There is a lot more where that came from, but I can’t spill all the secrets from the book here…

Send help…

I had tried numerous things over the course of the last year, including some of the most restrictive diets you could imagine.

I was not at my best-trying, but feeling so discouraged about the whole process.

It definitely is nice to eat a snack before bed and also be able to see some science that shows it as beneficial, contrary to what I always thought. I am not here to talk about the science personally, and as always this is not medical or scientific advice, just a post intended to share my experience and is for entertainment purposes only. I do agree that the plan Joel created here eliminates 90% of the resistance to following a diet, as touted in the book as well. It doesn’t feel like a diet, it just feels like me eating well again, with a slightly different schedule.

On that note, I first thought that it would be hard to follow the meal plan guidelines, but turns out I kind of already was, at least mostly. I love the quick and easy measurement practices that are outlined in the book. There are so many tasty looking recipes provided as well as guidelines for planning a day’s eating. I have tried the exact recipes from the book, and also adapted some to use what I have in the house.

My favorite go-to recipe from the book is the Chili Loaded Baked Sweet Potato - OMG! I have found that I prefer to make a variation with pastured eggs sometimes because its super easy and filling! Stay tuned for my final thoughts, and make sure you check out the first and second blog posts in this series if you landed here randomly. Learn more about the book and how to purchase here!
